Nelayan Jaga Hutan Mangrove

Mamuju (Antara Mamuju) - Dinas Kelautan dan Perikanan Kabupaten Mamuju, Provinsi Sulawesi Barat, mengajak para nelayan di daerah itu untuk menjaga kawasan mangrove atau hutan bakau dalam upaya meningkatkan hasil tangkapan ikan.
Kepala Dinas Perikanan dan Kelautan Kabupaten Mamuju Lukman Sanusi, Selasa mengatakan, hutan mangrove merupakan salah satu sarang ikan sehingga jika kawasan tersebut rusak akan berdampak pada produksi ikan di kawasan tersebut.
“Kami selalu menghimbau para nelayan di Kabupaten Mamuju untuk menjaga mall ikan atau rumah ikannya, salah satunya di kawasan hutan mangrove. Jika kawasan itu rusak, tentu akan berdampak pada produksi mereka,” ujar Lukman Sanusi.
Selain hutan mangrove, Dinas Kelautan dan Perikanan Kabupaten Mamuju mengingatkan nelayan bahwa terumbu karang juga merupakan salah satu sarang ikan yang berpotensi meningkatkan produksi nelayan.
Dalam upaya meningkatkan produksi perikanan tangkap di Kabupaten Mamuju, Dinas Kelautan dan Perikanan setempat juga membekali nelayan dengan pemahaman cara membuat rumpun agar bisa menjadi sarang ikan.
“Selain berupaya mencegah penebangan mangrove, kami juga mengajak para nelayan untuk terus menjaga terumbu karang karena kawasan itu juga merupakan mall atau sarang ikan. Kami juga terus mengadakan pertemuan dengan masyarakat pesisir untuk menjaga ekosistem di perairan dari mengalami kerusakan,” katanya.
“Selain untuk meningkatkan produksi ikan, upaya perlindungan kawasan mangrove dan terumbu karang juga merupakan salah satu upaya kami dan pemerintah daerah dalam menjaga ekosistem laut. Untuk itu, kami selalu mengingatkan nelayan agar tidak menggunakan alat tangkap yang berbahaya, seperti bom ikan. dan jaring larangan,” kata Lukman Sanusi.
Tidak hanya dalam proses penangkapan ikan, kata Lukman Sanusi, Dinas Kelautan dan Perikanan Kabupaten Mamuju juga mengingatkan para nelayan untuk tidak menggunakan bahan berbahaya pada hasil tangkapannya.
Pihaknya telah bekerjasama dengan BPOM untuk mengecek semua ikan yang ada di pasar dan sejauh ini belum ada laporan penggunaan formalin dan bahan berbahaya lainnya untuk mengawetkan hasil tangkapan nelayan.
“Jadi, kami selalu mengingatkan nelayan bagaimana meningkatkan hasil tangkapan tanpa merusak lingkungan dan tidak menggunakan bahan berbahaya pada ikan yang akan dijual,” kata Lukman Sanusi.
